LOTD #5 -- Does anyone else think it's a little cold in here?

I work in an office that likes to keep the thermostat set to subarctic temperatures... and I'm starting to think it's personal! 
So, this is how I felt today -- like I was wearing summer clothes in the wintertime!

A close-up of the latest skin preview from Dutch Touch - Josje - is available for free to VIP group members (for a very, very limited time).  It's 250L to join, but it's totally worth it!  Generally, I'm not even a huge fan of DT, but I love how simple and pretty this skin is.  The one part of it I don't like is that, at least in the preview version, there's a bit too much cleavage.  Otherwise, it's quite a lovely skin!!

Ok.  Too cold!  Get me inside!!!

Project Donate

A charity event benefiting UNICEF's relief efforts in Pakistan will be starting on September 4th.  I know I'll be putting my lindens to good use, for once ;)  Here are the details --

A sim has been purchased to hold a total of 4 charity events a year that last 2 weeks long each to benefit various charities. The very first event will be benefiting UNICEF Pakistan Flood Crisis and will run from September 4-19, 2010.

We are looking for designers who are willing to donate all or part of the proceeds of an item or items. The item(s) can be exclusive, existing, discounted, whatever you like. The point is to raise as much money as we can in the 2 week period. Each event is not just about fashion; it is about creativity and a will to give.
We are looking for bloggers who are interested in getting the word out and who are willing to take their valuable time to blog about Project Donate.

Just a lil afraid of heights...

Immediately upon slipping on the Soft Soul Top from PIDIDDLE, I thought, "I need to go to Paris!"  There's something so Audrey Hepburn-esque about the loose turtleneck of this huggably soft shirt!  And I just love the option of having the choice of a gold or diamond detail on the bow.  The top comes in ten yummy colors, and you can get all of them in a fatpack for just 550L (100L each).

So, I found myself in Paris, at the top of the Eiffel Tower, remembering that I'm a little afraid of heights...  but at least I looked cute!

I heart The Dressing Room

My heart skipped a beat when that happy blue box popped up telling me that the new collection was out at The Dressing Room.  I couldn't get down there fast enough!  And, of course, I bought the place out.  With a crazy sexy dress/top from guest designer (and one of my personal faves) Fishy Strawberry, a magic 8 ball (I can't resist a good toy!), tons of quality skins and makeups, and much, much more... how could I resist???

LOTD #4 -- Friday's Here, I'm Here.... Where's the Party??

I've never been much of a party girl.  On a typical Friday night, you'll often find me on my couch, in front of the TV, watching some movie On Demand.  But I don't know... I think if I had this H.O.F. dress in my RL closet, I'd find a way to get out and show it off!  Dancing would definitely be involved... maybe a concert... and cocktails would be a must!

Annnnd my legging collection continues to grow.  lol  I love the sequin detail on these from H.O.F.  The only gripe I have with them is slight gap in the inner leg seam, but that can only be seen if you look really hard...

For the Love Of...Science, pt. 2

If I'm perfectly honest, promise not to get mad at me? Ok... You promised! I've got to say, after so many great items in the first half of the hunt, I was a little disappointed by the clothing from the second half. There isn't really anything that I loved so much that I had to blog it. However! While there may not be much in the way of cute clothes, the second half of the hunt is scattered with a couple awesome skins, plus some reeeeally cute jewelry and accessories!

For the Love of...Science (a.k.a. OMG I love this hunt!!)

Ok, so I got off to a rather rocky start on this hunt, but with the assistance of the very helpful Drkie Average (one of the managers of the hunt), I was quickly on my way.  I've gotta say, hunts are so much more fun when the icon you're hunting for is an adorable little blue robot!  How do I get my hands on one of those little guys, by the way???

I've completed only half the hunt, so far.  I knew I wouldn't have time to blog everything, anyway, so I thought I'd do myself a favor and split it up.  lol  So far, though, I'm just in love with what the vendors are offering up!!  Here are just a select few of my absolute favorites!

The second I put on this outfit from the hunt, I just knew it had to be paired with these amazing western boots I got from Anexx at the shoe fair!!

This might just be my favorite hunt item, so far!  A well done skin with bright neon makeup - reminds me of my favorite outfit when I was a kid in the early 90s!  Dayglo was allll the rage then!  lol

LOTD #3 -- Feelin' Blue...

Mother Nature is being a big tease today.   First, it rains... thunder, gray skies, the whole shebang (I've never typed this word out before.. looks a little silly, right?).  Then, the sky clears, the birds start chirping, and the sun makes an attempt to come out of the clouds.  And then...BAM!  It's raining again.  Every time I think I can head out and get my nails done (the one thing I had planned for the day!), Ms. Nature laughs and sends the rain back down again.
So now I'm stuck in the house with chipped nails and nothing to do but sl shop... lol

This whole outfit was inspired by the skirt.  I was at R2 and decided to step out and see what was nearby.  I skipped (my avi skips... gotta love it.  lol) into SD Boutique, and immediately, this skirt caught my eye!   I love how just one piece can spark my imagination!

FresH!

This weekend is the grand opening of the new FresH sim.  Having been a longtime fan of Fab.Pony and a curious first-timer to Aleida, I was psyched to head over to their event (still going on!). 
From the invitation:
The FresH sim opening weekend of August 21-22 will feature live electro, 80's and house DJ performances throughout the opening weekend on a fabulous dance area, along with NEW RELEASES from both Fab.Pony and Aleida fashion labels, plus Newly Discounted Freebies, and Outlet Store carrying discounted items. And bring your friends - ferris wheel, games and raffles included at this weekend's fun and fashionable event.
The sim doesn't disappoint, especially not a fan of the bright and shiny, like me!  The architecture is geometric and modern, and the colors are poppy, flashy, and neon -- a perfect compliment to Tatianna Faulkes' designs at Fab.Pony! 

The new releases from Fab.Pony are pretty much must-haves.  The adorable, super-short "Blair" cocktail dress is the cutest LBD I've seen in a long time, with its angular flexi skirt and oversized bow in the back.  And the "Cha-Cha" cocktail dress is a total eye-catcher as it goes from mini to floor length in a bold aqua zebra print.
Event starts again at 2pm today, so get down there!

Blog No.1! ...Or is it... No.1 Blog!

The other day, I was browsing through xstreet (as I often do when I'm bored and/or attempting to put off something I really should be doing), and on a whim I decided to purchase a photo studio.  Now, I've dabbled in many (MANY) things in my year and a half in Second Life (hence the title of this blog!), but photography was never even a blip on my hobby-radar.  Well... now it is!

And so, I bring you a sampling of what I've come up with in the past few days.  Mind you, I don't have photoshop, and I'm a total beginner, so be kind!
